WARSAW -- The Polish government has announced plans to acquire the HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) from the United States. The Polish Army could receive 20 systems under a $414 million deal. The U.S. approved the sale of HIMARS to Poland in November 2018. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor.

Poland is involved in an extensive military modernization program. Recently, Poland signed a multi-million deal to purchase four U.S.-designed Black Hawk helicopters. These helicopters will be built in Poland.

In addition, Poland is acquiring the Patriot air defence system from the United States.
