DAMASCUS -- Rebels in Syria are using a growing number of anti-armor missiles to counter an offensive by government troops. The Syrian Army is attempting to gain territory in Idlib province. Syrian troops have reportedly identified at least a dozen rebel-operated missile launchers.

Local reports say the rebels have used more than 72 anti-armor missiles against Syrian troops since the beginning of the offensive in May. This figure does not include missiles used, but missed their targets and were not recorded by the rebels.

In August 2016, rebels fired nearly 120 anti-armor missiles in that month alone and around 100 used in each of the previous two months.
