ITAGAUI -- The Brazilian Air Force has received its first Gripen-E model fighter aircraft according to local press reports. The aircraft arrived via ship from Sweden in the Brazilian port of Itagaui on September 20th before being transported to the nearby Navagantes airfield.
The newly arrived Gripen, registration FAB4100, is now due to undergo additional flight and technical testing in order to analyze and refine the series performance indicators under local flight conditions in Brazil. Testing will primarily be conducted at Embraer's facilities at Gavino Peixoto. In late October, the aircraft will make a public appearance in the capital city of Brasilia to commemorate Aviator's Day. The aircraft is expected to enter active service in the second-half of 2021.
