ALGIERS - Algeria continues a string of military equipment purchases. The Algerian government is a major purchaser of Russian and Chinese made armaments. Now, Algeria is reportedly involved in talks with China to acquire SY-400 short-range ballistic missiles.

China's North Industries Group Corporation Ltd (NORINCO) displayed the SY-400 at the recent Zhuhai Air Show. The SY-400 would complement the Russian-built Iskander-E ballistic missile systems already in service. Algeria has also purchased the Chinese-made YJ-12B and CX-1 anti-ship cruise missiles.
