LAKEHURST, N.J. -- The U.S. Navy, on behalf of itself and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customer Australia, awarded North Star Scientific Corp., of Kapolei, Hawaii -- a U.S. Department of Defense designated small business, a $14.4 million firm-fixed-price order (N68335-22-F-0001) under a previously issued basic ordering agreement (N68335-19-G-0037). Under the order, North Star Scientific will produce and deliver high power amplifier (HPA) units. The units include: six HPA units for System Configuration Set-11 E-2C aircraft; nine HPA units for E-2D crypto modernization and frequency remapping aircraft retrofits; 11 spare HPA units; and 15 HPA units for the government of Australia.

The order also provides for production and delivery of 19 HPA units and vibration isolating tray assemblies with integral air plenums, 14 that are Multi-functional Information Distribution System - Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS-JTRS) compatible and five that are MIDS-JTRS Link-16 compatible. Additionally, North Star Scientific will provide engineering and engineering data support for HPA units kitting, installation, and testing.

The contracted work will be performed in Kapolei, Hawaii (74%) and Carlsbad, California (26%), and is expected to be completed in July 2024.

At the time of the award, the Navy is obligating $3.1 million in Fiscal Year 2022 Aircraft Procurement and $6.3 million in FY21 Aircraft Procurement funds. Australia is obligating $5.0 million in FMS funds. None of the funding will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

The U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.
