ARLINGTON, Va. -- The U.S. Navy awarded Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, a $15.4 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (N00014-22-C-1067) to develop the Cooperative Engagement Replacement Elemental Digital Beamforming (EDBF) System (CERES) for the Multi-Beam Array for Cooperative Engagement (MACE) capability. MACE is an AESA transceiver system for shipboard application. The maximum dollar value, including a 36-month base period (with no option periods), is $15.4 million.

This contract was competitively procured through Special Notice (N00014-21-S-SN13) entitled, "Multi-Beam Array for Cooperative Engagement (MACE) under (N00014-21-S-B001), entitled "Long Range Broad Agency Announcement for Navy and Marine Corps Science & Technology." Seven proposals were received in response to the notice.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will develop a next-generation MACE transceiver array system prototype. The effort will pursue an upgrade to the Planar Array Antenna Assembly (PAAA) Line Replacement Modules (LRMs) and arrays with new radio frequency and digital LRMs, which will provide simultaneous multi-beam communication capability.

The contracted work will be performed in Linthicum Heights, Maryland, and is expected to be completed by July 10, 2025.

The Navy is obligating $3.5 million of the contract total in Fiscal Year 2021 Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation funds at the time of the award, all of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

The U.S. Office of Naval Research, Arlington, Virginia, is the contracting activity.
