NORTHROP GRUMMAN AWARDED $64M TO SUPPORT U.S. NAVY BAMS-D SURVEILLANCE UAV
PATUXENT RIVER, Md. -- The U.S. Navy awarded Northrop Grumman Systems of San Diego, Calif., a $64.3 million modification (#P00011) to a previously-awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (N00019-18-C-1009) to exercise options for operations and maintenance services in support of the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance - Demonstrator (BAMS-D) Program, including logistics and sustaining engineering support. The BAMS-D is a surveillance UAV technology demonstrator, based on the RQ-4, carrying a number of long-range radar and electro-optical sensors to perform C4ISR operations. This contract is believed to cover the platform and its sensors, such as the ZPY-3 MFAS radar.
The contracted work will be performed in Patuxent River, Md. (70%), Rancho Bernardo, Calif. (5%), and at forward operating locations (25%), and is expected to be complete by June 2021.
The Navy is obligating $59.5 million of the modification in Fiscal Year 2020 Operations and Maintenance funds at the time of the award, all of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The U.S. Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
