PATUXENT RIVER, Md. -- The U.S. Navy modified a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N00019-14-C-0067) with Boeing of Seattle, Washington, for work regarding the P-8A Poseidon's nose radome. The modification (P00178), worth $12.8 million, provides for non-recurring and recurring engineering as part of the development and integration of a modified nose radome into Lot 10 Full-Rate Production VI P-8A Poseidon aircraft. This affects P-8A Poseidons for the U.S. Navy and unnamed Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers.

The P-8A Poseidon's nose radome houses a Raytheon Technologies APY-10 radar, a unit that provides the aircraft with maritime, littoral, and overland surveillance capability. The APY-10 functions in SAR imaging, search, detection, and tracking modes to enhance the Poseidon's ability to conduct anti-ship warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and ISR missions.

Boeing will perform work under the contract modification in Meza, Arizona (59%), Seattle, Washington (40%), and Patuxent River, Maryland (1%). The company is expected conclude the contract modification's work in March 2022.

The Navy is obligating $7.3 million in Fiscal Year 2019 Aircraft Procurement funds at the time of the award, while FMS customers are providing $5.5 million. None of these funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. For administrative purposes, the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River, Maryland, is functioning as this award's contracting activity point.
