NEWTOWN, Conn. - Saab’s line of BOL chaff-dispensing missile countermeasures systems and its many variants should be produced in steady numbers over the next several years for some major international tactical aircraft programs.
In March 2015 Saab received follow-on orders from Hindustan Aeronautic Limited (HAL), India, for serial production of its BOL variant-equipped Integrated Defensive Aids Suite (IDAS) for installation on the Indian Army's and Air Force's Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv. Deliveries will take place through 2018.
The adaptability of BOL variants to a large variety of the world’s fighter aircraft ensures that they will remain in great demand for many years to come. The U.K. Royal Air Force uses BOL systems on its Tornado and Jaguar aircraft, and France uses the devices on its fleet of Jaguars. One of the biggest programs driving BOL production is the Eurofighter Typhoon.
A report on the BOL program is available from Forecast International.
