NEWTOWN, Conn. - The Sikorsky Aircraft Corpo has been awarded a $30.4 million contract modification to produce 12 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for the Saudi Arabia National Guard (SANG). Work is estimated to be completed by the end of August 2017.

On August 1, 2008, Sikorsky was awarded a $286 million U.S. Army contract to supply 22 UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters, technical support, technical publications, and ground station radios for the Royal Saudi Land Forces Aviation Command. This followed an FMS request announced by the U.S. DSCA on July 20, 2006, for 24 UH-60L Black Hawks. It was not until April 26, 2011, that the U.S. Army awarded a $26.8 million contract to Sikorsky for the final two UH-60L Black Hawks under the original requirement. These latter two units were to be delivered in September 2012.

On May 3, 2010, Sikorsky was awarded a contract of undisclosed value by the Royal Saudi Land Forces for the upgrade of 12 Saudi UH-60A Black Hawks (S-70A-1 Desert Hawks in Saudi service) to UH-60L status.

Then, on October 20, 2010, as part of a larger $30 billion FMS rotorcraft package, the DSCA notified Congress of a potential sale to the Saudis of 72 UH-60M Black Hawks. These utility helicopters are intended for operation in the SANG.
