NEW DELHI - India wants to move ahead with procurement of new attack helicopters. Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar has sent the proposals to buy 22 AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopters, along with 15 CH-47F Chinook transports. This deal is worth more than $3.1 billion.
The Apache proposal went to the Indian Finance Ministry on April 23. The proposals includes options for a further 11 Apaches. The Apaches are armed with the HELLFIRE missile. The Indian Army wants this purchase to move ahead.
The U.S. has won deals worth over $10 billion during the last six years.
