U.S. HOUSE MEMBERS LOOKS TO PROVIDE MORE FUNDING FOR ISRAELI MISSILE DEFENSE
WASHINGTON - Two members of the U.S. House of Representatives are working to provide additional funding to Israel's missile defense programs. These representatives are Peter Roskam, a Republican from Illinois and co-chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus, and Grace Meng, a Democrat from New York and a member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East.
The pair is seeking $41.4 million for the Iron Dome air defense system. The Iron Dome is in service and used to protect Israel from Hamas and Hezbollah rocket attacks. In addition, these House members are requesting $286.9 million for the David's Sling air defense system and $146 million for the Arrow anti-tactical ballistic missile (ATBM) system.
Roskam and Meng say these systems are essential to the safety and security of Israel, a strong U.S. ally.
