MOSCOW - Russia has performed a successful test of its Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM). This program has seen a series of delays due to reliability problems. Many early Bulava SLBM launches ended in failure.

The missile was fired from the Yuri Dolgoruky, a nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine. The submarine was submerged at location in the Barents Sea. The launch took place on October 29.

The missile's warheads successfully reached their designated targets at a testing range in the Kamchatka Peninsula. The Russian Navy has three nuclear-powered submarines that can carry the Bulava SLBM.
