EDGE REINFORCES UAE-ANGOLA DEFENSE COOPERATION WITH MAJOR BORDER SECURITY INITIATIVE
LUANDA - EDGE Group said it is finalizing an agreement with Angola's Ministry of Interior to deploy a border security program delivered by its unit BEACON RED. A letter of intent was signed by Omar Al Zaabi, president of EDGE Commercial, during UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's state visit to Angola.
EDGE said the program will provide command and control systems and mission training intended to improve situational awareness, readiness, and response at key border points. The architecture combines AI analytics, surveillance UAVs, secure communications, big data management, and traditional defense and layered physical security. Solutions would be tailored to operational needs and terrain, with modular, interoperable systems.
EDGE characterized the project as one of the largest UAE-led security efforts abroad. The announcement follows a 1 billion euro contract under which Abu Dhabi Ship Building, part of EDGE, will build BR71 MKII corvettes for the Angolan navy.
