PARIS - Volocopter, developers of urban air mobility aircraft VoloCity, and Groupe ADP have announced a partnership with the French Civil Aviation Authority to offer electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) services in time for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This move would have Paris the first European city and likely the first city globally, to over such air taxi services. The route will be focused in the Paris Region, with the services being available to the general public as a supplementary adddition to existing public transit. Groupe ADP and Volocopter have collaborated to bring UAM to Paris,with flight tests and talks with regulators taking place in 2020. Volocopter is currently the only eVTOL company on track to achieve certification in 2024 from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Electric air taxis are certified to the same safety standards as airliners.
