GLOBAL HAWK UAV DEPLOYS TO BASE NEAR TOKYO

TOKYO - U.S. Air Force RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned air vehicle is deploying to Yokota Air Base in western Tokyo. This is the first time this surveillance aircraft has deployed to this base. The Global Hawk will strengthen the local area surveillance capability.

Five Global Hawks will be deployed to the Yokota Air Base. These air vehicles are coming from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. Four air vehicles have already reached Yokota. The deployment will be temporary.

The Japanese Self-Defense Forces are acquiring three Global Hawks.
