TOULOUSE, France - Avian Líneas Aereas, the new subsidiary of the South American company Synergy Aerospace, has taken delivery of the first new-generation ATR 72-600 to fly in Argentina.

ALA is an Argentinian start-up airline that will launch scheduled and charter air services in Q1 2017, subject to final government approvals. From its hubs in Buenos Aires (Aeroparque), Tucuman and Cordoba, it will operate commercially as Avianca Argentina under a brand license agreement. The new airline will fill a critical void in regional coverage and connectivity by offering multiple daily services in currently non-served and under-served markets. New ATR 72-600s will be deployed at a fast pace, with 12 in service by January 2018.

The airline intends to start operations of its new ATR -600 series fleet during the first quarter of 2017 following the carrier’s current certification process. The delivery follows the announcement, last year, of a contract between ATR and Synergy Aerospace for 12 firm ATR 72-600s and options for 6 additional ones.

Since its creation, ATR has sold over 1,500 aircraft. ATR aircraft equip the fleets of some 200 airlines in nearly 100 countries. ATR is an equal partnership between two major European aeronautics players, the Airbus Group and Leonardo.
