MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay - The Uruguayan government is once again considering the procurement of an HS-125-700A aircraft for presidential transport.

In addition to its VIP duties, the twin-engine aircraft would be used to transport health care workers in times of emergencies.

At the end of 2012, BAE offered two HS-125 aircraft (one 700A and one 600A) to Uruguay. In May 2013, the government confirmed the decision to buy the aircraft. Then on July 18, the day before a contract was to be signed, the purchase was suspended. According to then-President José Mujica, the acquisition should be studied more in depth.
