NEWTOWN, Conn. - The Uruguayan Navy has issued a tender (No. 16/2014) for the purchase of spare parts for several aircraft for its Naval Aviation unit.
The parts will be used to maintain the service's fleet of Beechcraft T-34C-1 Turbo Mentor trainers, and Helibras AS-355 Esquilo and Bolkow Bo-105 helicopters.
The Navy operates two T-34 Turbo Mentors acquired from the United States in 1981. The AS-355 (HB-355F2) is used onboard the Navy's Artigas support ship and is the only helicopter-capable ship in the Navy. It was recently overhauled in Brazil and returned to service in December 2013. Meanwhile, the Bo-105s were acquired second-hand from Germany in 2007. They were re retired in 2004 from the Germany Army and are now used for search and rescue, economic zone protection, and general maritime support.
The deadline for bids is May 30, 2014 at 10:00 hours.
