CHINA PURCHASES RUSSIAN-MADE S-400 SAMS

MOSCOW - China has placed an order for the Russian-made S-400 Triumf air defense system. This is the first export order for the S-400 surface-to-air missile (SAM).

Rosoboronexport and the Chinese Ministry of Defense (MoD) signed this contract at the beginning of the fall. China will receive at least six battalions of S-400 air defense missile systems. The value of this contract exceeds $3 billion.

Belarus is interested in the S-400 system.

The S-400 is manufactured by the Almaz-Antei Concern and based on the S-300 long-range air defense system.
