TEL AVIV - Iran is providing the first pictures of the Bavar 373, a locally designed alternative to the Russian-made S-300 surface-to-air missile (SAM) system. Tehran developed the Bavar 373 after Russia refused to sell its S-300 to Iran.
The Bavar 373 is named after the Farsi word for "Belief," and Iran claims it is superior to the S-300. The Bavar 373 can track over 100 targets simultaneously and is equipped with long-range missiles, according to Iranian officials.
In recent years, Iran has invested considerable resources in the development of its armed forces. Tehran is working on a variety of missile systems, as well as combat aircraft, helicopters, unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), radar systems, tanks, submarines, ships, and more.
