TEL AVIV - Just before the current ceasefire came into effect, the Iron Dome air defense system was in action against inbound rockets fired by Hamas. Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group, has fired thousands of rockets from sites in the Gaza Strip into Israel since the start of the recent fighting.
Over the last month, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) has used the Iron Dome system on an almost daily basis against Hamas rockets. Over Ashdod, an Iron Dome battery intercepted 15 Qassam rockets at once.
