ANKARA -- Baykar Defense has decided to donate unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) to Ukraine. A private group has raised $20 million to purchase Bayraktar TB2 UAVs from this Turkish defense firm. Baykar Defense decided to donate the three UAVs instead.

The Bayraktar TB2 UAVs are already operation with the Ukrainian military. These UAVs have gathered intelligence for Ukrainian forces, as well as conducted air strikes on ground targets.

Russia has objected to the sale of UAVs to Ukraine by the Turkish company. Turkish officials say that Baykar is a private company.
