KYIV -- The Biden administration is preparing to provide more advanced, long- and short-range air defense systems to Ukraine. The Ukrainian government is seeking to acquire more powerful weapons to counter Russia's invasion, including more sophisticated air defense systems.

Ukraine could use more sophisticated air defense systems to protect its major cities and other locations from attacks by Russian combat aircraft and missiles.

No details are available on these weapons that the U.S. is willing to provide to Ukraine.
