RUSSIAN VPK SHOWS OFF IMPROVED APC

MOSCOW -- Russia's Military-Industrial Company (VPK) has shown off what is to be the replacement for the BTR-80, the K-17 Bumerang. The K-17 has additional armor that was recently revealed to the public and is equipped with a 12.7mm machine gun.

The Head of the 154th military representative office, Lt. Colonel Yuri Chikin stated that trials for the new APC are planned to begin in the spring of 2022. The K-17 has a crew of 3 (Commander, gunner, and driver), and can carry 9 soldiers. The K-17 also has a welded hull and turret with modular armor with a V-shaped hull that will deflect mine blasts. The protection level is currently classified. The vehicle is fitted with NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems and reportedly can be fitted with active protection systems.
