NEW DELHI -- India has performed an additional trial of its Prithvi II intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM). This missile is capable of carrying a nuclear payload.
The trial took place during the night of December 3 at the test range in Odisha coast. Back-to-back trials of the Prithvi II were conducted successfully at night from the same base on November 20.
The Prithvi II has a range of 350 kilometers and can carry a 500-1,000 kilogram payload. The missile is powered by liquid propulsion twin engines.
The Prithvi entered Indian service in 2003.
