MOSCOW -- According to reports out of Russia, the Kremlin's new Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A-based Beriev A-100 flying radar will likely make its public debut at the annual Victory Day Parade in Moscow on May 9. The AEW aircraft, which is dubbed the "All-Seeing Eye," carries around 20 tons of electronic equipment, according to Anatoly Serdyukov, Director of Rostec's aviation cluster. Vega Radio Engineering Corporation is credited as the lead electronics manufacturer.

The A-100 is somewhat similar to the U.S. E-3 in appearance, also featuring a large, top-mounted circular radome. Operationally, the A-100's radar is said to be capable of tracking up to 300 targets simultaneously with a detection range of 405 miles.

President of United Aircraft Corporation Yury Slyusar told the Interfax news agency that the aircraft is due for delivery to the Russian Air Force as early as 2020. Its maiden flight was in late 2017.
