TEL AVIV -- The Indian Army has placed an order for 240 SPIKE anti-armor missiles and 12 launchers. This is an urgent procurement order. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd won this contract, worth tens of millions of dollars, and will deliver the missiles and launchers in the very near future.

India has long struggled to acquire a new anti-armor missile system. Previously, the Indian Army had decided to purchase thousands of SPIKE missiles. Soon a dispute broke out between the Indian Army and the state-run Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

The DRDO wants the Indian Army to procure the locally designed Nag missile. Reportedly, development of Nag will not be complete for several more years.
