BEIRUT -- The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has moved its new Gulan 1000 missile system to the frontlines. The system uses a tracked armored vehicle and is operational in the Al-Safa region of Al-Sweida with the 4th Armored Division. The Syrian Arab Army is moving against Islamic State positions in southern Syria.

The Islamic State has lost much of the territory it formerly controlled in Syria. Still, a large number of Islamic State militants are active in different parts of Syria.
