TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- On behalf of the U.S. National Guard, the Air Force has awarded Support Systems Associates of Melbourne, Fla., a $31.2-million firm-fixed-price contract (FA8131-18-F-0003) for upgrades to avionics on its RC-26 electronic surveillance aircraft. This contract provides for avionics upgrade to meet the Federal Aviation Administration mandates, and is the result of a competitive acquisition. According to the Department of Defense, 43 solicitations were mailed and one offer was received.
The contracted work is expected to be completed by September 30, 2020.
The National Guard has obligated $7.6 million in Fiscal Year 2017 Equipment Appropriation funds at the time of the award. The U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., is acting as the contracting activity.
