SEOUL -- The South Korean Marine Corps is considering the acquisition of new unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) to enhance its surveillance capabilities. RoKMC Lt. Gen. Jun Jin-goo expressed his desire to capitalize on robotics and other cutting-edge technologies to enhance the marines' maritime power projection capabilities.

The new UAV could be a vertical-take-off-and-landing (VTOL) system for use from land-based sites and from ships off shore.
