HELSINKI - Russia may not be happy with Israel's decision to sell new anti-ship missiles to Finland. The deal is worth $190 million. Under its terms, Finland will receive Gabriel 5 anti-ship missiles manufactured by Israel Aircraft Industries.

Finland will designate the weapons as the Surface to Surface Missile 2020 (SSM2020) and it will replace the existing MTO85M. The latter weapon is a version of the Saab RBS15 anti-ship missile. The Israeli missile defeated rivals from the U.S. (Harpoon), France (Exocet), Sweden (RBS15) and Norway (Naval Strike Missile).

The Gabriels will arm Hamina-class missile boats and on Squadron 2020 corvettes. The Gabriel Mk 5 is also known in Israel as the Advanced Naval Attack Missile.

Other customers for Gabriel series missiles include India, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Azerbaijan, Singapore, South Africa and Taiwan.
