SEOUL -- South Korea will need to wait a little longer for its RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned air vehicle (UAV). The U.S. will delay delivery of two RQ-4 Global Hawk UAVs to South Korea. These UAVs will arrive in the first half of 2019. Two additional UAVs will arrive at a later date.
The U.S. is delaying deliveries to allow the installation of a new anti-hacking system. In addition, deliveries to Japan and NATO have been delayed by one year.
The Global Hawk UAV will beef up South Korea's airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.
