HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The U.S. Missile Defense Agency has awarded Lockheed Martin, Rotary and Mission Systems Division of Moorestown, N.J., an $8.5 million modification (#P00054) to previously awarded fixed-price incentive contract (HQ0147-16-C-0011) to develop, deploy, test, and operate the Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR). This modification provides for the production of additional front end electronics hardware to head towards meeting the radar's objective capability as defined in its specification. The Department of Defense says that the modification also avoids post-deployment retrofit integration costs. With the modification, the total cumulative face value of the contract is brought to $695.9 million from $687.4 million.

The contracted work will be performed at the Lockheed Martin facility in Moorestown, N.J., as well as their subcontractors' facilities at various other locations. An expected completion date for the work was given as September 2020.

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency has obligated $6.5 million of the modification award in Fiscal Year 2018 Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation funds at the time of the award. The Missile Defense Agency, Huntsville, Ala., is the contracting activity.
