RUSSIAN ROCKET LAUNCHERS TO BE DEPLOYED IN EASTERN MD

MOSCOW - Several units equipped with the TOS-1A Solntsepyok rocket launcher are to be established in the RChBD formations located in East Siberia and Far East, Eastern Military District, according to the Russia MoD. The new units are to be fully manned with contract servicemen.

The TOS-1A Solntsepyok rocket launcher systems mounted on the modernized T-72 track will join the RChBD formation in Amur region by late 2017.

The TOS-1A system is a modified version of the well-known TOS-1 Buratino. It features new advanced launching tubes and can fire 220-mm missiles.

According to the Russia MoD, the modern equipment will enhance combat potential of combined arms formations in the Eastern MD.
