TOULOUSE, France - Airbus recorded orders for 349 aircraft during the month of December. Iran Air ordered six A320ceos, 32 A320neos, eight A321ceos, eight A330-200s, 28 A330-900s, and 16 A350-1000s. Go Air ordered 72 A320neos. Aviation Capital group ordered 25 A320neos. Hong Kong Airlines ordered nine A330-300s. BOC Aviation ordered five A320ceos. Hong Kong International Aviation Leasing ordered five A330-300s. Airbus Defence and Space ordered two A330-200s for use in the Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) program. A private customer ordered one A320neo. Other undisclosed customers ordered 12 A320ceos and 120 A320neos.
Airbus delivered a total of 111 aircraft during December. This total includes 31 A320ceos, 25 A320neos, 20 A321ceos, four A330-200s, nine A330-300s, 15 A350-900s, and seven A380s.
In 2016, Airbus garnered 949 orders. The company delivered 688 aircraft.
As of December 31, 2016, the order backlog for Airbus totaled 6,874. Unfilled orders broken down by aircraft type were as follows: 21 for the A319ceo, 55 for the A319neo, 315 for the A320ceo, 3,558 for the A320neo, 308 for the A321ceo, 1,388 for the A321neo, 363 for the A330, 754 for the A350, and 112 for the A380.
The overall backlog at the end of December 2016 represents an increase compared to the backlog at the end of November 2016, which had totaled 6,664. It is also an increase compared to the company’s yearend-2015 order backlog of 6,787.
