COLOGNE, Germany - RWE, Germany biggest power producer, is now considering pulling down and shipping abroad functioning gas power plants due to profit erosion and lack of political support.

Europe's power sector is reeling from a sluggish economy, low wholesale prices and the demand for renewable energy, replacing gas and coal-fired power plants. The company is looking at selling a complete Dutch gas-fired power plant that's been in operation for just a few months.

RWE's rival E.ON inked an agreement to sell its Italian coal and gas-fired plants to Czech firm EPH.

Since the start of 2013 RWE has closed 12,600MW of capacity and the company may mothball further facilities.
