U.S. APPROVES SALE OF ADDITIONAL UH-60M BLACK HAWKS TO MEXICO
SAN SALVADOR - The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of three Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to Mexico.
The deal was sent to Congress for approval on March 16.
The deal is valued at $110 million and includes six T700-GE-701D turboshaft engines, six H-764G inertial navigation and global positioning systems, six 7.62mm M134 machine guns, three Star Safire III gyro-stabilized EO/IR systems, and 12 AN/AVS-9 night vision systems.
It has not been specified which service will receive the new equipment, but based on the configurations, they are likely intended for the Mexican Air Force and not the Navy.
The latest order will bring the Air Force's fleet of UH-60M Black Haws up to 26. The service already operates five units and last September, the U.S. authorized the sale of another18 UH-60Ms for $680 million.
