EVENDALE, Ohio - The first GEnx-1B-powered Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which was recently certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, was delivered to United Airlines today. This event marks two firsts: the first delivery of a GEnx-powered Boeing 787-9 aircraft and the first Boeing 787-9 aircraft delivered to a North American airline.
United Airlines has been flying the 787 since 2012 and has ordered a total of 65 GEnx-powered Boeing 787s, with 11 of these aircraft in service.
The GEnx engine family is the fastest-selling engine in GE Aviation history with more than 1,500 engines on order. Revenue-sharing participants on the GEnx are IHI Corporation of Japan, GKN Aerospace Engine Systems of Sweden, MTU of Germany, TechSpace Aero of Belgium, Snecma (SAFRAN Group) of France and Samsung Techwin of Korea.
