MOSCOW - Russian Helicopters has delivered the last of five Ka-32A11BC search-and-rescue helicopters ordered by the Russian Emergencies Ministry. All five machines are fitted with medical modules produced by the Kamov Design Bureau and certificated in June by Russia's health and social development service. They can also be outfitted with fire-fighting equipment. The Ka-32 is powered by twin Klimov TV3-117VMA turboshafts.
The helicopters will be used for patrolling the main road between Moscow and St. Petersburg as part of the Ministry's road-safety program for Russia's federal highways, according to the manufacturer. It notes that the aircraft were delivered six months ahead of the schedule agreed to under the contract signed with the Ministry in 2009.
