PRETORIA, South Africa - Russia's state arms exporting agency, Rosoboronexport, reports that the company's foreign orders portfolio currently stands at $38.7 billion.
According to Rosoboronexport's General Director, Anatoly Isaykin, "it is one of the highest figures that the company registered in the past few years."
Speaking on the sidelines of the Africa Aerospace and Defence-2014 arms show in South Africa, Isaykin said the company does not anticipate that their portfolio will shrink this year.
In July, President Putin said that arms sales for the first half of the year were estimated at $5.6 billion. In 2013, Rosoboronexport sold $13.2 billion in weapons and military equipment to foreign buyers. The major importers of Russian equipment in 2013 were India, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Venezuela, Algeria, and Malaysia. Of the $13.2 billion in sales, nearly 40 percent was for aircraft and 25 percent for anti-aircraft defense systems.
More than 90 percent of Russian military equipment is channeled through the state-run agency.
