NEWTOWN, Conn. - Despite a cease-fire agreement between the Ukrainian government and Pro-Russian forces, there is heavy fighting in eastern Ukraine.
Over the weekend, the separatist forces exchanged fire with Ukrainian troops stationed near the airport in Donetsk. At least six people have been killed and another 15 were wounded.
It is unclear who initiated the shooting, but authorities in Kiev blame the separatists. Members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) came under fire twice while attempting to investigate. Two of their vehicles were badly damaged, reports the OSCE.
The cease-fire agreement began on September 5 and is officially in observance despite the violations. Both sides have admitted that they are rearming in anticipation of renewed fighting.
