BONN, Germany - The Netherlands received its first Boxer ambulance variant from OCCAR (Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation) on April 7, 2014. The Netherlands' Ambulance Boxer (NL AMB) will be operated by the Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA) starting in June 2014, and is part of a 200-unit order of the 8x8 Multi-Role Armored Vehicle (MRAV) being produced by the Armored Technology (ARTEC) consortium to German and Dutch army requirements.

The Netherlands' order calls for 200 Boxer multi-role vehicles produced in five variants (command post, ambulance, driver-trainer, engineer and cargo-carrier). The new Boxers will replace the RNLA's obsolete YPR-765 tracked infantry carriers and are to be used in in select support roles for infantry units utilizing the Hägglunds CV9035 infantry fighting vehicle. Deliveries to the RNLA are to run through year-end 2017.
