NEWTOWN, Conn. - Cubic Defense Systems has been awarded a $5 million contract to supply its P5 Combat Training System (P5CTS) to the Royal Moroccan Air Force. The system will be used to train its F-16 Fighting Falcon pilots.
The contract was awarded through the United States Air Force. Cubic said Morocco will join the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, along with a number of other air forces, in using the P5CTS to support high-fidelity, live and post-mission training.
In October 2007, the Moroccan government announced the selection of the F-16C/D Block 52 to meet its requirement for a fourth-generation air superiority fighter. The Moroccan Air Force now has 16 F-16C and eight F-16D fighters, all delivered by August 2012. The F-16s have replaced the Moroccan Air Force's vintage 1970s F-5 fleet, and provide an alternative to upgrading additional Mirage F-1s originally acquired in the 1980s.
