COLOMBIAN COAST GUARD PREPARES TO RECIEVE FINAL BATCH OF TYPE B INTERCEPTOR PATROL VESSELS

MEDELLÍN, Colombia - The Colombian Navy is prepared to receive the last three Eduardoño Type B interceptor patrol vessels. A total of 24 vessels are being acquired for the Coast Guard.

Deliveries began in 2013 and will be completed this month. The 38 foot "Type B" vessels were designed and built by a local company, Eduardoño Colombia S.A. They are specifically designed to operate in high seas but can also enter into bays and rivers. They will be used in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

The Type B vessels are equipped with a Yamaha F250G engine, Furuno DRS-2D search radar, GPS, L-Rad acoustic cannons, and long-range radios. They are armed with 5.56 mm FN Herstal M-249 machine guns and 7.62 mm M-60 machine guns.
