NEWTOWN, Conn. - The Submarine Weapons Interfacing Equipment constitutes a family of technology-related systems used to form a submarine combat management system that enables the preparation, launch, and control of a submarine's tactical weapons.

Historically, these systems have been used primarily aboard the United Kingdom Royal Navy's submarines. Therefore, future production of Submarine Weapons Interfacing Equipment is expected to parallel Astute class construction of up to seven boats.

There has also been rumor that the next-generation submarine, the Successor SSBN(R), may be a derivative of the Astute class, in which case this class, too, will likely use Submarine Weapons Interfacing Equipment units.
