NEWTOWN, Conn. - While there will be strong export demand for the PVS-14 night vision goggle over the next several years, production of the system for the U.S. Army will likely be winding down over the next, as the newer PSQ-20 Enhanced Night-Vision Goggle (ENVG) takes over. According to the FY14 U.S. defense budget, $783 million will be spent on night-vision devices through 2019. Some of this funding will go toward the ongoing support of the PVS-14 units already in wide distribution.
The PVS-14 will continue to be a desirable system on the export market. In January 2014 the Argentinean Army began the process of acquiring 17 laser rangefinder binoculars and 94 PVS-7 night vision goggles. Reports on the PVS-14 and the ENVG are available from Forecast International.
