EGYPT WILL RECEIVE U.S.-BUILT HARPOON MISSILES

WASHINGTON - The United States is restarting deliveries of armaments to Egypt. This equipment will help the Egyptian armed forces in its fight against Islamic extremists in the country. In addition, Egypt is supporting the Yemeni government against Houthi rebels, as well as the Libyan government fighting militants allied with the Islamic State.

The United States has notified Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi that deliveries will recommence, including 12 F-16 combat fighters, 20 Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and 125 M1A1 Abrams tanks.
