RIYADH - Saudi Arabia has reportedly acquired a new ballistic missile from China. Beijing has sold Dong Feng - 21 (DF-21) ballistic missiles to Saudi Arabia, according to a former Saudi Arabian general. The DF-21 is capable of carrying conventional or nuclear payloads.

The DF-21 has a range of 1,000-1,700 miles and a top speed around Mach 5. This missile can be used to attack warships.

Saudi Arabia has purchased Chinese-made ballistic missiles in the past. News of the sale of DF-21s to Saudi Arabia is seen as a warning to Iran.
