BERLIN - The German government plans to send arms to Kurdish forces in Iraq. These weapons will help to support Kurdistan's fight against Islamic State (ISI) militants. The Islamic State currently controls large areas of Syria and Iraq.
The German government will provide the Kurdish Peshmerga troops with 30 MILAN launchers and 500 missiles, as well as 8,000 G3 rifles with two million rounds of ammunition, 8,000 G36 assault rifles, and 200 Panzerfaust 3 shoulder-fired rockets. These weapons will equip some 4,000 Kurdish troops.
